2nd Generation Disabling the speed limiter on the 3S-FE...

I found this link yesterday and I was considering doing it, but I wanted to get some approval from some of you guys first. Heres the link---> http://www.4gcelica.net/v4/diy/speed.html
It has a wiring diagram and everything, would it be worth while? Thanks in advance!

I don't know when you'll ever have a use for such speed, and considering it's a Camry, it'll probably take a while getting there. But if you do remove it and decide that you do want to use what ever speed the top speed is, you probably should upgrade your tires to a higher speed rating. I notice that a lot of times, the speed limiter is the same as the max speed as the speed rating on the tires.

I just had a search on this and a few other boards and it seems that by cutting that cable you are likely to lose operation of your cruise control, abs and speedo. Plus it appears that it may also ruin your engine by allowing it to over rev. I also read that unless your engine is modified there is going to be very little advantage. This seems to be a bit of a 'grey area' on TN as the results are not entirely known. Most users also disagree with the need to de-limit the speed unless you are on a race track. The best solution appears to be installing an Apexi Rev Meter which will modify the limiter.
