2nd Generation Crank Pilot Bearing

Was just on the phone to Toyota, regarding a Pilot bearing for the crank.
He said that, being an auto, they don't use Pilot or Spigot bearings at the end of the crank.
Does this mean that I don't have one when installing the manual? Or is there a plug or something that gets removed to install one... Just wondering how it would work.

I think there shold be an indention in the end of the crankshaft that you will need to insert the pilot bearing into. You dont need one on an auto because the torque converter is bolted to the flywheel/flexplate wahtever you want to call it. You will need on when installing the manual tranny though unless someone know of someway to get around it which I can not see how that would be.

That sounds fair enough. I just hope I see that indendation in there when i remove the tranny! haha. Ill just measure the indentation diameter, and the spline diameter and go to Toyota and match one up. Hopefully the 3VZ one will work.

Shouldnt be hard to find it. It is maybe an inch to inch and half in diameter and about 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep. It is more than an indention I guess. More like someone drilled a hole into the end of the crank. You will see it when you take the tranny out with no problem I am sure.
