Emergency brake line HELP! - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Ok, so I have a 96 avalon which is almost same as gen 3 camry. Anyways, I notice that my e-brake line isn't pulling tight. I check the pads and rotors (all newly replaced) and they weren't the problem. When I step in the e-brake, I notice the line pulls a little but not enough to tighten the pad against the rotors. Also after i disengage the e-brake, I need to pull the pedal back up with my foot to bring it back to its original height. Any idea on how to tighten the brake line or how I should go about fixign this because currently I do NOT have any form of emergency braking.....cept jumping out of a moving vehicle.......

the adjustment is underneath the center console, pick up a haynes manual, it'll tell u how...

It's a drum-in disk brake - the pads shouldn't make contact with the rotors.

Take the rotor off and check the shoe.

Or download a manual for a gen3 Camry (that's conveniently stickied at the top of this forum).

What Toysrme said. the disc part of the brake does not work as the parking brake. When you take the rotor off you will see there is a small set of drum brakes also. Those are for the parking brake. As far as the pedal not releasing, let me know what you find out because my 94 V6 Camry is doing the same thing but I am to lazy to mess with it. I really should use that brake though.
