The 92-93s used the e153 as well? Didnt know that...

yeah, but they had weaker synchros than the 97+ Camry/Solara E153s. i used one for my original tranny swap and it was lacking. i picked up my '00 Solara tranny for $500 USD from a wrecker in Ohio. well worth the extra money.

I'm using the E153 from a 93 Model. Hope it works ok! When you say it was "lacking"..do you mean it wasn't as strong for your motor?
Finding a 95+ E153 here in Aus would be near impossible!

The weak synchro was 2-3rd.

That was fixed in '93.

I'm EXTREMELY interested in swapping my 1994 1MZ-FE automatic to a E153 gen 4 manual. Will someone kindly give me some feedback as to how much this swap would cost and how much labor is involved?
