I have been thinking about buying a WRX hood scoop (one with the double sided 3M tape for easy mounting) and cutting an inlet in my hood right above the intake manifold of my 1MZ-FE. I just wanted to get some honest feedback to if that would help any in cooling the intake manifold or would it be an entire waste of time, money, and a hood? All I know for sure is that a WRX hood scoop would look SICK on my '94 dark blue coupe...and everytime I drive for a while and then pop my hood the intake manifold is extremely hot....HONEST feedback please....
i say waist of time. unless you do some crazy duct work and move it to a box around your air filter. it would cool a little but you can do the same from take the seal strip thing at the back of the hood and putting some washers to raise the back of the hood up and let air flow through like that.

^ and leaving it that way!
Today I went to Waterfest (VW/Audi Car Show for those who dont know) and I saw a corrado with a STI hood scoop and it didn't look that bad...but on a Camry idk...

Yeah, but raising the hood looks worse, and is worse for the car.
Bringing cool air into the engine bay is always a plus! I say for it
Knailgun: Invader hoods are 100X more ricey than a functional scoop. And it wouldn't perform the same function he wants it too. Removing air from the engine bay (the ugly ass c/f invader hood) and blowing cool air on a specific engine part, as well as cooling the engine bay (the hood scoop).
I'd take a hood scoop over an invader hood anyday. Leave those hoods to the honda guys...

it's a camry, if you want a wrx, buy one. thats my 2 cents. don't gay out the car if you don't have to. some things just arent meant to be put on a camry. sure if ricing is you're style do it, but if you have class, you'll know what i'm saying.
Yes i was a proud ricer once upon a time, done up civic hatch 91 fully done from motor to skirts to stereo to scoops, etc) i know what i'm talking about

Rice is opinion. Having a WRX scoop and wanting a WRX are two entirely different things. Not everone wants a car the plows like hell on a road course Yes, I have raced WRX's before.
If something is functional, it's never rice. Because it has a purpose for being there. He wants a hoodscoop, thats the function. His preference in styling is up to him.
Just because it's your opinion, doesn't mean it's right...

I will agree that the STI hood scoop will stick out too much and that something shorter would be nicer and wouldn't ruin the lines of the car. I should photoshop a wrx hood on a that black gen3.. I could color clone the black.. Hmmm.... Let's see.. let's see... Shall I be lazy or shall I break out GimpShop???
Yeah, but raising the hood looks worse, and is worse for the car.

Haha, yea Invader hoods do look retarded. Granted a plastic STI scoop on a camry would probably look worse, at least its functional. id rather just drive without a hood. of course gen2's are boxy as fuck anyway so aerodynamics dont matter.
