Turbo Camry 5s-fTe many pics (56K, buy DSL – you will want it)

So guys, it is here, another 5s-fTe camry… I will start off by saying this would have never happened without Jeff, for starting off the SBC so well, and Carl @ speed-source, the best Toyota engine builder to walk the Midwest my friends… and i would not go to another man in the country!

That aside, here are the mods I went for on the camry, no vids yet because I don’t want to ruin all this hard work without the tuning completed, but I have driven the car some, not really in boost, and let me say it is going to be fun…

BTW- yes it did cost a lot, no I would not recommend this to most shops, Carl did clock the turbo down so it does look different that the other camry turbos, and that downpipe probably had 4-5 hours of labor in it so that is a proud piece

Be careful on the tuning... From what it sounds like, youre going to be running really rich with those huge injectors and fuel pump. Make sure you tell them to tone it down a bit when they tune you.

Take it easy and play it safe with your tuning. Have fun!

edit: I see youre using the same hood propping method as me- gotta love the old hockey stick shafts hahaha
1) the battery relocation was done by Jeff (spectrabluecam) - he took it to a shop that specializes in that kinda stuff so i don't know about any kit, but it has beefy ass 1/0 wires to each post

2) yeah the injectors are big, but i feel always better to be rich then lean out, since one blows and one just kinda looks funny as you drive haha - the 550s are not in yet, the shop is going to drop them in when they dyno on friday - and the green top injectors just seem too small for gettin what fuel i want into the turbo

3) yes i am going to go rather easy on the motor, while i will enjoy the boosting, i am going to see how long i can make this motor last, and as long as i don't thrash it often - life should not be killed TOO bad

DAMN SON! Carl did an amazing job putting everything together. Having seen what Jeff went through with the car (see pic below) from paint, to interior, to tranny swap etc...to today. I'm sure Jeff is shedding a tear right now. I can't wait to see it in person. Way to go Nate!

Pre-SBC (far right)

Yeah - i want to really say that this could not have happened without Jeff... he really did A LOT! of quality work on the car to get it prepped for this project, plus he had assembled a great deal of parts that were needed for the turbo, all in good shape.

also with carl - it was just so helpful being at his shop since he could get quick acess to gaskets and bolts and stuff, that would hold up most projects when they are missing... he really knew what to do at all times - and if you guys ever get to see the car in person the job on the DP and the IC piping just look top notch - we could sand them down and probably make all the pipes look seemless, but i like the beads from the welds... overall he probably has 25-30 hours labor in this instal which was impressive from how it came together - if you ask me, almost looks like the turbo was meant to be in the engine bay
