What kind of break fluid do you use?

I have a 1994 camry dx with 4cyl running valvoline synthetic break fluid. Is this overkill or what?

unless you track...otherwise, any old fluid that won't kill the brake lines will do

Well, umm... my 91 is running prestone dot3 (i think) brake fluid. I just topped off (gramatically speaking) the tank a few weeks ago for the first time since 01, which is when my dad bought the car.

Cool

Don't run synthetic brake fluid (dot 5) in anything not meant for it.
I flushed with fresh dot 3 years ago, then added somebody's dot 4+ (dot 5.1).

If you use the brakes enough to experiance brake fade, switching from dot 3 to dot 4 will help a little bit.

If you never experiance brake fade, flushing the brakes with fresh dot3 brake fluid every-every other pad / rotor change is fine.

full dot 5 in my gen 3 ....... i know it's not made for that but eh it works.

they make syntech dot 3~4 it's not the same as dot 5 i seen both and used both. personaly i say dot 4 is enough dot 5 cost more than it's worth.
