I was wondering if Anyone knows how much I would be looking at if I converted my 2004 Camry SE I4 auto to manual, and if anyones gone turbo yet.... I got mine to the point where it's show worthy... but I really want a fast car... and I don't wanna give it up! lol
Yah, definatly alot of parts, as you know its not a matter of just dropping the new transmission in, its all the parts for this also. clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, shifter, console for manual shifter, lines lots of drilling and lots of other parts also. I have never done this but i just know of all the work involved, ( helped a friend swap SR20DET into his 240 )
turbo looking at a shop doing it 2k DIY 1k if you do it right.
no way this is true... i don't think you are gonna see a turbo job, with reliable parts, shop insatl, quality fabrication, AND tuning for under 4K at a shop imo
- you are going to need 1-1.5 in parts and then double that in instal and fabrication work, then tuning of choice

yeah thats what i figured, yeah I4 VVT-I ... damnnn, thanks though for the info, that answers my question loud and clear
Well, I'm not completely sure. But CamryPunk was talking about a buddy of his who wanted to turbo his IS300 and the vvt-i was hard to work with. I believe CamryPunk said his friend needed a standalone and it was really expensive to turbo.
So basically, I believe you'll need a standalone system. That'll be at least 1000 bucks.

Agreed. Especially w/ the lack of performance parts out for the gen5 the kit would be custom. You would have to have the shop make all your piping and all that junk. And as mentioned before the vvt-i would be an obstacle.
