A/C Air Temp is 56 Degrees

My wife's 04 4 cylinder, automatic trans, Camry LE's air conditioning cannot blow air through the dash vents that is cooler than about 55 degrees.

We left it atthe dealer and they said (1) the "freon" is fully charged and (2) the output air is 38 degrees.

I checked it when we picked the car up and it was 56 degrees. I used a digital thermometer that shows that the cold air from its vents is 37 degrees.

What could cause a fully charged A/C system to act this way?

Thanks.

ok that does not make sense since you said before it was 56, but i would bitch and complain to the shop until they fix it, physically show them the temp is NOT 38 degrees as they said, you hopefully will get your way

they are lying to you. the normaly temp those coils are sposta be at is 45 degress. 38 is too close to freezin and runs the risk of icing over. 58 on a hot day or lots of hot air going over the coils is ok, just when it's been about 10 min and your using the cool air from inside it doesnt cool down then you have a problem.

Thanks for the quick responses.

The service writer said to come back any weekday before 4PM and talk to the service manager who will run the test again.

I guess I'll have to let my wife take my 05 Acura TSX one day next week if we're to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks again.
