HELP ME NOW! plz :)

Ok, heres the deal.
92 Camry
5 speed
5s-Fe
92k

I pulled my cylinder head to have some valve work done, Competition valves and polished ports.
Got my head back months ago, Installed the head Set timing douple checked with a tech at work. Checked the distributor to make sure its lined up with #1 piston at TDC Compression The thing just wonts start. The starter turns, but it sounds as if there is no compression. I am 95% everything is Connected right. I hear some backfiring like every 5 seconds when the starter is turning. I have access to a lift, and any tool imaginable. WTF!!!???!!!???
All suggestion are appreciated.

Also is the 92 5s-Fe an interferance engine?

Sounds to me like your timing is off a little. Bump, for a more experienced outlook. Maybe 88le or someone will know more.

well if it sounds like no compression then test for compression. i got a cheap kit for less than 20 from harbor frieght.

also you should clay check the engine.and with the cams in make sure the valves close all the way.

Are you sure everything is installed and timed correctly?

Check the alignment of the timing belt, ignition timing, and camshafts.

You need 3 things for combustion. Compression, fuel, and spark. Check all those too.
