3rd Generation Cruise Control Not Working

So the cruise on my Gen3 hasn't been working for quite a while... after a few trips from Minneapolis to Madison and back (4 hours each way), I just don't think my leg can take it any longer, so here's the deal. Throttle works fine normally, everything under the hood is connected, including under the cruise control cover. When I turn cruise on, the dash light comes on, which makes me think that it's not an electrical or computer problem. I believe it's the actuator that is shot, but does anyone have any other ideas before I go replacing that? It doesn't seem like it would be an extremely spendy part, but with dealership prices, you never know, so I want to explore my options before I replace a part that isn't broken. Thanks in advance.

I think there is only one fuse in the system, so it should be ok. Check the electrical connection at the motor and make sure the linkage is moving freely. You will probably be junkyarding for the actuator, once you see the price of a new one. I don't think there should be any problems with that. It could be the controller switch.

Brilliant! My e-brake light is on, but the brake isn't engaged... I'll check that out ASAP, thanks!

Your brake light has been on for a year and you failed to mention it in your post. I gave you more credit than that. Knailgun must be a psychic.

Generally I don't associate brakes with throttle... but I guess in this case it would make sense to do so.
