Tough @$$ Car!!

I'm a die hard toyota fanatic, but I have a whole new respect for how well built Camrys are! My girlfriend was driving home from work on Sunday night, stopped to make a left turn onto our street (no suicide lane) and got plowed into from behind by a small SUV...she's okay...no broken bones or cuts, just some back & neck pain... here's a pic

there weren't any skid marks & we're guessing the lady was going about 45mph. she had a big grill guard on her SUV that fell off & someone had to carry it away. The SUV died right in the middle of the road, but the Camry's engine never died & my girlfriend was able to pull off the road!

the engine doesnt usually "die" when you get hit from the back. the engine and crankshaft are on the front of the car. the suv obviously died because his damage was done to the front of the car. i will give credit to the fact that everything past the windsheild looks un touched. glad your girl is ok

The reason I was so shocked that the engine didn't die is that both cars were lifted off the ground from the impact & I assumed that would be as close as you can get to what cops do when they hit you on the rear quarter panel to make you spin out & kill the engine...
Thanks for all the concern...I'll let her know
