2nd Generation Double DIN Factory Stereo's Compatability?

I just bought a nice Kenwood MP3 Deck and someone bashed out my window and stole my stereo and ripped up the bezel.

Rather than replacing it with another stupid flashy silver deck Id rather get a factory Toyota Double DIN unit that looks stock but will at least play CD's. Are they all compatible or do I need to search for something special? Thanks!

Edit: Most of the CD Newer double DIN receivers I see around have 4 plugs for the back. Id assume Toyota hasent changed the plugs since forever ago, but why is there 2 extra plugs in the back? Facoty Aplifiers? If so, I can run it without that right?

I currently still run the factory tape deck, with a 6-CD Changer with FM Modulation (89.1FM) to play CD's

I used to have it in the trunk but it was unconvenient to change CD's and anyone could open my trunk!! So I hid it in the "lockable" glove compartment, also gives me room in the back for the new subs I want!

Well, for fitment, it should pop in there just fine. As far as the two extra plugs, the best person or people to ask would be the kids in the Audio/Video forum.. Cam2XRunner is also someone you may want to bump into for this question.

You just need to figure out if the adapter harness for the gen2 Camry is the same as for later Toyotas. Shouldn't be that hard... Good luck. It will actually bolt in just fine. Worst case, just wire it in by hand (you can get all the factor plugs from a junk yard pretty easily).

I know it has been mentioned before for navigation but try www.oemvalue.com
may be able to put in there.

http://www.oemvalue.com/application/toyota.htm

http://www.oemvalue.com/request/toyota.htm

THese two links give different stereos that are available for Toyota's and what they will fit and what you will need as far as wiring to hook them all up.

Hope this helps.
