2nd Generation 2vz knock sensor problem help plz!!!!

OK I have been searching for months and have come up with nothing i have looked in manuals searched the web and still nothing. I need to know how many knock sensors a 1991 toyota camry 2vz (V6) has, and i need to know how to replace them because i keep getting the 52 error code and my car runs like shit (19.6 et quarter mile) I know the 3vz has 2 but what about the 2vz? If anyone has any advice or anything i would greatly appreciate it. thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure it has 1 knock sensor, and it's under the intake manifold. To get to it, remove the intake plenum, coolant bypass lines, and maybe the fuel rails, and then remove the intake manifold. Should be right under there.

^ Yup, should be under the lower intake manifold. They screw into the cylinder head.

If you have a "2VZFE" Gen 2.5 (90-91), then YES, it is under the intake manifold.
If you have a 2VZFE from a Gen 2 (88-89), then you don't have a knock sensor at all.

you will have to remove:

airbox
intake plenum/tb
fuel rails
intake manifold

when reinstalling fuel rails, make sure you've got all the injectors lined up well before you tighten things down. And make sure you have the injectors seated into the rails correctly, as I tore an oring doing this and had to redo it, after already replacing all of the rubber on the injectors (orings, grommets, insulators).
