Arrow Check out-- Opening the Shift guage help.

I got this far on opening up my shift guage for my gen 4 98' camry. I need to get to the incandescent bulb in there however, nothing else is budging from its place and I can't find anyscrews at all to unscrew. The storage console is opening half way in its front but the back is somehow stuck to the ground still. What do i do from here to get to the bulb.

There aren't any clips on the sides or anything? My Gen 5 has very small clips on the right side... I had to unclip those and then one side came off.. I had to pull on the whole piece a little bit after and put some force into it until a big plastic tab slid out of the front of the shifter panel. Don't know if any of this helps, though...

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

why are you tearing everything in your car out just to get to the shiftgate bulb???

did you try removing the single screw at the top left of your shifter and then popping the entire black gate assembly out???

Bassthrive,

Don't worry, I love doing this stuff, its like a hobby to me . Yeah i tried the single crew in the top left.

Actually Wormhole was right. there are 2 bolts under the little carpet piece in the storage box just as it shows in the pic he posted.

Thanx for the Help Wormhole. thanx everyone.
