power wire been cut

A stupid car theif stole my Pioneer cd player, so I have to install my stock tape deck now. The signal wire and antennae wire was untouched. But the power wire's been cut, what do I do to fix this? How do you splice a power wire?

Where is it cut? You can get another piece of wire and use a butt connector to crimp them together or solder them.

twist the wires together and tape it. its not like its running 1000V or anything. you could solder it or crimp it, that would be the ideal way but twist and tape works fine for a low voltage low amperage power wire for a deck.

Twisting and taping will work, but the connection is not as reliable as a crimp or solder. I guess it could depend how you twist it though...

Or it could be that I'm just meticulous...I work on electronics with Class 3 reliability.

I don't have the connector anymore? Can I just buy the connector at any local audio shop?

Are you refering to the white color connector that plugs into the factory stereo?

If you want an aftermarket stereo, you can just crimp the wires together. The plastic one for the factory stereo is not required. If you do decide to replace it, make sure the one you get has female pins. The plug on the factory stereo is male.

This one will replace plug that went into the factory stereo:

Best way to install this is to solder the wires and use heatshrink. Alternatively, you can use butt connectors. You will need a crimper tool to crimp them. Plier can work, but it will be very difficult.

This one will allow an aftermarket stereo to plug into where the facotry stereo was connected:
