Im sure this had been asked many times.... but i have a 95 camry 4 cyl le and wondered if there was a big brake upgrade or something better than stock that maybe can be a bolt up from another car?
for example, my 2000 grand prix's gtp brakes sucked, well the camaro dual piston caliper 12" rotors worked and bolted up.
also can i convert the rear drums to disc? or is this a dumb q? is there a "how to" on doing any of this?
thanks
p.s. i did use search and found a bunch of stuff, but nothing for the 92-96
but long story short, yes you can do both.
you can swap in rear discs, and also you can upgrade your front calipers/rotors to v6 rotors. some people on the board have also upgraded to supra front calipers/rotors, but you'll need special brackets made up
otherwise, there is a big brake kit out for the gen3 camrys from rotara, but they run a whole shit load of $$$
but long story short though- you really shouldn't need any more than the v6 brakes on your 4banger unless you plan on going fi

you might want to refine the search.....this topic has ben whored a million times, so that is why there is sooooooooooooooooooo much shit there. More importantly be patient.....it may take awhile to find the right answer

Eye8Pussies says it all.
Do not think you need the extra braking power unless u have some horses packed in the hood that we do not know about.
The disc brake from V6 will fit nicely in the back of ur rear drum. Swap in v6 rear for your i4 read, just to clarify.
toyota supra will fit ur front. Need larger rims cos i think those suckers are 13".
rotara, damn expensive.
its not that i have power but more that i cant stand warping rotors! the car will shake and vibrate like crazy wehn stopping, i have gotten them turned etc.
either way its what i eventually want to do, and the v6 upgrade will be fine. so i can do the front and the rear v6 direct bolt on w/o modifying? what exactly is the difference in the 4 and v6? bigger rotors? calipers dual or single piston? just wondering so if i get v6 brakes i know if im replacing just rotors or calipers as well
No worries about the search. TN members just want ppl to do that before some ppl posted.
You can always upgrade to brembo rotors for the front and back (after getting a v6 set in there).
I am not 100% sure but I believe that the v6 and I4 brakes are the same.
Only advantage of the v6 is the front-rear disc.
I4 has front disc and rear drum.
Technically, ur rotors should not wrap unless u r a speed demon. maybe there is something wrong with the calipers or something else.
Only time my disc wrapped was when i was doing 90 and did an emergency braking on the highway.
Better rotors => brembo.
Not sure if TRD have rotors for camry. i know TRD have pads out for camry
