Clicking noise - FIXED

Just got my Camry back from the shop, and the clicking noise is gone. Whenever I would turn right, a clicking noise would get louder and louder the faster I turned. Some people told me it was going to be a torn CV boot, and some said axle shaft. Turned out to be a $80 axle shaft. Just a heads up because I know that a few people on TN have this same problem.

good for the heads up, but there's no way that a cv boot would have done that....the cv joint you mean, no?

Torn CV boot will lead to the CV joint failing from the dirt that gets in.

Very common problem on front wheel drive cars - a mechanic should be able to diagnose it immediately.

my mech does the halfshafts rather than replace JUST the CV's....glad it was a cheap fix

Bump, because I had a similar problem (clicking noise, increasing in volume, when the wheel was turned far over to the left) and it was eliminated when I had the right axle (replaced last year at midas) re-replaced under warranty, yesterday.

Yeah i had that problem too last christmas. I ended turning the wheel really far over and pulled into a parking spot at the mall. And poof, the noise was gone forever. Aparently my CV joint was gone ofrever too. I had to get the car towed and have both axle shafts replaced. 6 hours and $300 later i had new axles and a driveable car.

I went through that not too long ago myself. Had my work done at Monro. I have my brakes and rotors from Midas and I think that's the only thing I'll ever have done with them again.
