Hi guys, i've got a 94 2.2L Camry (gen 3?), anyhoo, just wondering if the 2.2L engine can handle a turbo or not. I'm getting extractors and an exhaust in a month or so, and was just wondering about the duribility of the engine + turbo.
the engine has got 293 000kms on it, which is about 170 000 miles i think.
your thoughts?
its not like i could afford 2 put it on, just wondering whether it'd b able to hold together with it on. cos i WAS thinking of swaping it with te 3SGTE.

Right, cuz that option is way affordable and cheap compared to turboing the 5SFE...
Yeah, hence my putting "WAS" in CAPITOL LETTERS. i WAS also thinking of getting a loan for it all but couldnt b bothered.
The main thing is i was just wondering if anybody here had done it b4!
In Australia its cheaper to sell the 5sfe and swap in a celica 3sgte + custom mounts (and brakes and whatever if ya get a clip -- which you SHOULD because youll want the ecu, etc) then to make a reliable 250hp turbo 5sfe.
for australians, remember we dont have a hared time like the americans at getting motors and swaps done ^^
