3rd Generation Sway Bar?

my 96 camry is getting close to getting a few things figured out on it, possibly another engine gasket leak, cause it aint burning oil. freon seems to be low (i'm prayin its just the freon), the driver door handle on the inside is about to break off, and the shocks are completly shot at 147k miles, which in fact i'm 1200 miles past oil change... so i'm thinking of buying Tokico struts off ebay cheaply for like 345$ and just leaving the stock springs for now and see how it turns out...

But i was also thinking of better sway bars, and i searched ebay and cant find anything but stock parts... suggestions?

Toyota plastic door handles are really sorry.
GM & Ford make better plastic parts.

As for the struts, I know mor ethan one person who regretted buying those struts. They said they are no better at all than Monroe or KYB but cost about twice as much. I think I would save my money on those.

After replacing the struts and strut mounts, you may find that the car does not sway much.

^ wtf, GM & Ford make better plastic parts... How do you figure? Ford has got to be the crappiest out there as far as interior plastic goes. I've never had anything plastic break on a toyota (I've owned 5, 2 w/ over 300k mi) aside from a radio bezel and that was my fault.

rsb - Whiteline - its the only one made for the gen3. Sean (aka soundlzrd) at ctmotorsport.com is one of the only people in N.Amer. who can get it. You wont see it privately for sale unless its from someone here or Camryman.org

Tokicos are WAY better than Monroe and KYB ... I can say that from personal experience. You won't be dissatisfied with them.

yeah, tokicos are much firmer then monroes at stock ride height.

monroe sensatracs (and whatever therye new name is) are more comfortable then tokicos at stock height, and are stiffer then kyb gr2's at lowered heights, while the gas gt's are just plain stiff all the way

i have sensatracs with over 50k km's on them with no notice in them wearing out. although for my dricing i wish i had something with more dapening power

How do I figure? Like you said, personal experience . . . and many salvage yards will agree.
My 1993 Camry has two broken exterior door handles, three broken interior door handles, and the plastic pieces behind the interior handles are broken too. The plastic simply become brittle. There are additives that make plastic more resistant to attack by oxygen (particularly ozone). I suspect the Japanese are not using much of it. Maybe they don't want the cars to last too long. If they used better plastic and made better transmissions, the cars would regularly last 25 years or more and that would hurt new car sales.

As an engineer, I believe that using plastic for door handles is poor design. Plastic durable enough to take the abuse costs more than making the handles out of metal.

my 94 cam driver's side interior door handle has also cracked. my buddy has a 92 cam and both his driver's and passenger's interior door handles are cracked. I know what you're saying, but compared to american cars, the cam is still better imo. I just don't get the feeling of super cheapness from the bulging plastic that's present in american cars when I'm in the camry. At least when Toyota does it, it's done so that I don't want to puke when I look at my dash, unlike many many many GM/Ford vehicles.

I agree. When the price is $20,000 or more, I don't expect anything about a car to be cheap. After all, these aren't Yugo's. It may cost the car makers another $50 to make the cars 10% better.

I own three Toyotas and a Chevy truck.

My last struts were Gabriel and perform fine.

My truck is a 1991 Chevy long bed. The transmission had been replaced before I bought it (112k miles). The old turbo 400 transmissions were great but GM quit using those. I believe it was becuase of weight.
