4th Generation Gauge help - they no light up

Hi all,

First, I've done the search. Matter of fact, I've search everywhere and I just can't find the level of help offered here.

I have installed reverse glow gauges (TY97CM-1869RGX Silver Reverse) from ProCarParts.com. I know I should have tested them before I installed them but too late now. They're in and they don't work. The power supply is good and the ground is good. Now I know it was a rookie move on my part and I'll take whatever verbal spanking y'all wish to dish on me, but I found AFTER checking all this the the harness that was sent with the gauges has four connectors on it but there are only three gauges. Would this be the cause? if these things are set up in series, like Christmas lights, and one goes out they all go out then this may be the issue. I'm unsure.

What do y'all think?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe their connected in parallel, so the extra connector has no effect.

Are you getting power to the gauges? What did you hookup the power wire to?

I hooked the power the the far right green wire on the brown connector. I'm getting 12v across that wire to my ground. I just now thought to go check continuity across the gauges themselves. Back with the results in a bit.

Just checked continuity and found that the center gauge I get a reading but the other two I do not which could mean that they are DOA (could be my meter as well, but i doubt it). Still, if the harness is set up in parallel the center gauge should light up. Does anyone know where or if there are technical specs for these gauges?

you prolly won't be able to read continuity across the guages, they dont have a filament.

they kinda work like a flourescent bulb. As for rmeaseuring the output of the transformer it will be high AC voltage, prolly around 100-1000 volts, but very low amperage.

Fixed it. I'm embarassed to say that I was hooked up to the wrong green wire. Funny how the left most wire becomes the right most wire when you flip the connector over. Works like a dream now. Thanks anyways.
