2nd Generation 3SFE or 3SGTE Swap in my All-Trac...

My car has 160k+ miles on it and I think its about time to get a new motor. Mine is ticking real badly over 3500RPM.

What would need to be done if I got the 2nd gen 3SFE?

Im dont really know anything about the 3SGE. Im just curious whats involved in putting that into my car.

Do I need anything specific since mne is an Automatic when looking at any of these motors?

The 3SGTE is apealing to me, since the price is around 1400$ with a 5 spd trans. Although, the price to swap to a 5spd concerns me. Aprox how much do you think it would be to get the other parts needed? Also, where is a good place to get the motor/trans? Also, what gen 3SGTE would be the best fit?

Basicly, im clueless on most of this stuff. This is now my only car and needs to be running over a 2-3 day swap so having everything planned out is my top priority. So any info you can think of would help me greatly. Thanks!

well if you need it done in 2-3 days, you'll just need to get a JDM 3SFE. The GE and GTE would take a LOT longer, rewiring, doing the 5spd swap, custom exhaust/pipes for a turbo and all that jazz.

I put a new 3SFE in my camry in about 3 days, working roughly 12hrs each day. This was with the help of a friend and a really good set of tools. If i were to do it again, i could have it done in 2.

with the 3SFE there is nothing different really, i can talk to you about the specifics if you are really interested, but it is by no means difficult, if youve got a engine hoist, a good set of tools and a haynes manual you can do it in 3days tops. Thats not going to happen with the other 2. Not to mention they would both be WAY more expensive.

Well, I am an aprintace tech at toyota and have access to all tools and lifts I would need. So that will help.

I guess I like the 3SGTE because I would have a newer tranny, my auto is starting to act funny. So in a way it would be worth it to get that motor.

Where could I get a 2nd Gen JDM 3SFE and a low milage All-Trac Tranny?
