4th Generation Intakes on ebay question...

The only intakes on ebay for a 4cyl 97 camry are to expensive for me.

BUT doesnt the cheap ones listed for 99 4cyl engines work.

Is there something different between a 97-98 and a 99-2000 ?

thanks, just looking for any insight

I can't see why it wouldn't but you might want to contact the seller and ask him. If you do get it and you don't contact the seller, only to find out later it doesn't fit, you'll have no reason to leave negative feedback.

I have one of those intakes on my '01. It's sounds mean as hell, but I think it robbed me of low-end torque for sure... damn my Cam is slow .

thanks, i think it will work too, not gonna bother to ask the seller cause i doubt he'll know. but from looking at the pictures i am quite sure it will work.
Do you notice better mileage from the intake?

I just installed an intake off ebay on my 98 camry and the listing said it was for a 99-01 camry but it fits perfectly. i think theyre just listing by the gen 4.5 years 99-01 even though the intakes are exactly the same for both gen 4 and 4.5, i bought a 9$ cold air intake and it made a big difference

The gen 4 years are 97-99. The gen 4.5 years are 00-01. An intake made for the '99 Camry should fit on the '97 no problem.

It depends on what kind of intake you get. A short ram intake is going to help you on low-end torque, but on higher RPMs, when the engine is giving off more heat, you're going to have torque loss. Cold-air intakes are the opposite, I believe.

I think I lost power throughout the entire powerband to be honest with my short ram. I have a CAI on my Accord and compared to my girlfriend's Accord with short ram... there is no comparison. The CAI has more torque and buttloads of high end.

Well, I'm going to be getting the injen SRI for my Gen 5, but what I may do is mod it like how brungold did his. He extended it into the fender and made a custom CAI.

Come come now.. the Accord engine and the Camry engine is 2 diff. things.. the Cam is auto and the accord is Manual for you. both cars weigh diff. It's a mental Placebo.. they can't both be the same...

indeed, its just your brain telling you the money wasnted wasted....really. theres no way your ass or any random street drags can tell you if a intake mod makes any difference.
