Okay, this is a question to those who have the 1mzfe engine....
you know there's the black plastic cover over hte engine where it's supposed to be covering 4 spark plugs....
I want to take off the cover so then I can paint it....but the problem is that I can't take it off.
There are two large screw thingies in the front, right? I tried to take them off with a regular ratchet, but it's as though the screws have been stripped or something....but I've never touched them, only the people at the dealership have...
is there some other special way of taking them off or something?
thanks a lot to everybody in advance.

Just to let you know, it's a 1MZ-FE, like "One", not "I"

actually the paint i used i bought at my work.. autozone......... its a duplicolor paint that's chameleon......... it worked awesome...... i have had it on for almost 8 months now and not even one crack or chip due to the engine heat.............. i used a spray bond aid which i think did the trick before i sprayed on the chameleon........... just make if u do it to put alot of coats of the chameleon i put 6 coats on mine.......... i will post some pics once i get my kits on this week

heh...yeah....but I mean it as in the fact that there's only 4 spark plyugs directly under the cover...the other two are behind the engine somewhere, and a bitch to get to... :P haha....and I've driven the gen3 4's before, and the 6's feel a LOT better.....
and yeah!!!! back to the cover.....it shoulda been so easy to take it off, 'cept for the fact that the dealership like, stripped the screws the last time they did work on the engine or something (back when my parents still owned the car)!!!
hmmm....and since you seem to know your paints...
are the chameleon paints that they sell at can tire any good? thanks!

does anybody have an actual answer for this guys question? i am having the same issue with my 3vz. its the valve cover that i cant remove, just because of 2 little bolts that seem to have been stripped by a shop...
Errrr, I hope you have more than 2 plugs behind the engine.. or else you'd have a V4+1 or something
ummm...I dunno? I haven't looked really....cuz it wasn't long before I got the car that my parents did like, a full tune-up thing, and replaced the platinum sparkp lgus, and this and that...and blah blah blah...... :P
but eitherwayz.....shouldn't there only be 6 sparkplugs in total for a v6?
now I'm confused... :-?
edit:
JWA: I guess we're screwed and destined to only have plain looking engine covers for the rest of our days....sniff.....

well must say i also can never get a strate answer about this engine. well to you with the 1994 1mz-fe did an engine sawp that engine was used untill the 95-96 untill the they used the 3vz-fe. well that plate should be held down by hex screws well my 96 is (mine is also striped by toyota i need to take it back) i think in the 95's they have a differnt cover on them but they still look like there hex bolts. i have the repare manule for these cars so i know a little about them. the cover on the 96 only covers none. the intake covers the back bank making it a bitch to change thats what mine hasn't been canged yet. and on the 95 the cover should cover the front bank. on the 3vz-fe there is no cover but the valve cover. oh the 3vz is mostly the same engine but with out the computer controll ignition
