i disconnected the battery today, and when i re-connected it, i heard the doors lock. now everytime i open the door the alarm goes off and cant start the car. i only have the spare key, my car is gen4. whats the solution?
Is it a facory alarm? I have an aftermarket alarm and if my remote doesn't work, I can put the key in the ignition turn the key until it almost cranks the engine and back to the "insert" position twice really fast and it disables the alarm. Good luck
My alarms been going crazy lately too. My one remote was screwed up last year so I went back where I had it installed and they reprogrammed it.
Only they programmed it that the lock button locks and unlocks the doors.
Now with the other remote, it doesn't always work. Sometimes I have to click the button like 15 times for it to register and unlock/lock the door. And the batteries fine because the light on the remote always comes on when you click a button and isn't dim.
And lately there are times i'll just click the unlock button and the doors will unlock but the siren will sound, and the only way to shut it off is to disconnect the battery.
I hate going to the shop where I got it installed so I refuse to.

on my camry, i got an aftermarket alarm. basically, once the alarm is on or engaged in it's yelling tantrum, the engine will not start for protection reasons.
HOWEVER there is an over-ride for that. put the key in, turn to on, then off, then on, then off and keep doing that for a little. after a certain number of times, the alarm will disengage and you can freely start the car. that's how it is in mine and what it said in the owners manual.

The alarm I have went crazy because of the battery once. The battery died, and so the alarm would take that as the battery being disconnected, and the alarm reads that as a break in (because disconnecting the battery turns the alarm off, the second it reconnects it treats everything as a break in). I had to replace the battery and have them reprogram the alarm
errr....have you tried looking for the "valet" switch? when you go to start the car, put the key in ON position and depress that button untill you hear a response from your car. Then try to start it.

yea, that did the trick. looked above the pedals and there was this red button. pressed it, started the car and vroom!! 'preciate everyones input
That sounds like you have the SecuriKey+...could be wrong, but my car is exactly the same way. If so...I pity you, those things are total pieces of junk. Curiously, where did you buy your car? Normally I would just press the unlock key. Next time you have to disconnect the battery, take out the relay for the horn (located in the fuse box on the driver's side under the hood). There's a diagram on the underside of the cover to tell you which one it is.
