Hey this is probably in the wrong thread but i thought of it while browsing here. Whats the deal with holden, like who owns/ deals with them. I know one of there cars is almost exactly the same as the new GTO and they also have a camry apparantly, so i was a little confused as to why they had the same bodies as GM and Toyota.
or like the pontiac vibe and toyota matrix. i forgot what the vibe is called there (maybe matrix) but it's sold under a toyota nameplate.

Holden is owned by GM. Holden Australia developed the GTO (over here in Aus its called a Monaro) which GM used. So your American GTO is a copy of a car which was originally made here. As for a 'Holden Camry' there is no such thing, in the early nineties in Australia there was a Holden Apollo which was almost identical to the Toyota Camry, this was done as a joint venture to improve sales, but I think both companies learnt from this mistake. Go to www.holden.com.au and for their perfomance brand check out www.hsv.com.au
the camry rebadge was an attempt at a mid-sized family car, which now the Vectra (form the euro Opel GM brand) covers that market :P

good to know that 5-10 years ago the camry v6 was faster (and still is as time goes on) then the RWD Holden and Ford offerings in the same market which were/are 3.8L and 4.0L
because were lighter! (if ya in australia, a gen 3 v6 is faster then the old falcons and vn-vs v6 commodores and can keep up with the old 5.0L vn)

commodore SS is awsome.
As is the Ford XR6 a V6 turbo
and the ford Boss 260 xr8 (V8)
Both GM and Ford Need to take these cars to the us
For Ford check out www.Ford.com.au and Performance www.FPV.com.au (Check the typhoon)
ss's are crap, spend the same on an import and you will go faster, turn faster, cost less to insure and drink less fuel.
its a straight 6 in the xr not a v
