Wrong Tire Size!

I just bought a 96' Toyota Camry LE. I looked in the manual and it says that the tires should be like P19570R14 or something like that, but I go out and look at my tires and they are P19575R14. I went to Kaufmann and had the tires switched around because I hated the white-walls and I asked the guy there, he said that this meant my tires were a little too tall and that the speedometer would be a little off, is this bad? How much do you think the speedometer is off? Thanks for your help...

You can figure it out using this. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

It will not hurt the car any.

On tires, the first number is the width of the tire (how much of it is actually in contact with the ground). The second number is the percentage of the first number that makes up the sidewall of the tire. The last number is the rim size.

The overall diameter of your wheels are 3.02% too big. Your speedometer is 3.115% too slow. When you're actually going 60mph, your speedometer will say that you are going 58.1 mph.

Its not really that big of a problem, but you need to be careful because if you're going too fast, and your speedometer tells you that you're going slower than you actually are, then you can get pulled over for speeding much easier. Other than that, you'll be alright.

i think it's the other way around, because when my speeometer says i'm going 45, it seems like i'm going closer to 40. and another question, wont the total milage on the car be messed up if the tires take longer to turn around?

Yes, the milage will be off as well. But as far as being the other way around, see for yourself. www.1010tires.com has a tire calculator. I wasn't making up those stats...
