Thumbs down Exhaust leak

Hi guys did some research but didnt really find what im looking for.
92 v6 started the engine and once i heard it i knew it had an exhaust leak
noise is coming from under the engine area.. ( im not too familiar with the car yet)
but it i looked down and it looks like it might be coming before the cat.
anyone know what it could be and how much would somthing like this problem cost?
i have no experience with welding and no access to a lift
so i will definetly have a mech do this for me.

i think the noise is coming from the y pipe
when u step on the gas it rumbles a little bit

thanks

^ it's most likely the y-pipe as you said

and any good shop would be able to weld a new flex-pipe on for you, as that's where it usually leaks....it's not worth replacing the y-pipe....especially from the dealership

when the car is cold/running put your hand under there to see if you can feel the leak - that way you can pinpoint where it is.

dont take it to a speedy/midas for they will reccomend changing the entire system, which is around $1400...take it to a small shop and they should set you up for around 100 bucks

Usually you will not hear it as bad when the exhaust gets warmed up because everything expands once hot. Like mescalito said you should be able to get it fixed for 100 or less. Just depends on if they can jsut weld up the spot it is leaking or gonna have to replace the flex pipe.
