Post Help Out

Ok well I'm getting a 1995 Camry LE from my Parents. it has 143,000 Miles and the Motor blew in March. When they Started it it was making a Clanky noise and they stupidly drove it home it drove half way there and broke down. I guess the motors done. Now It's mine I want to no what to do with it. I don't have a Job yet but I plan on getting one very soon and I have 600$ right now. I want to hook it up since i've never seen a nice hooked up camry anywhere around me in Maryland. I was going to buy this motor because of the price http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3SFE-...ayphotohosting
But is it worth it? I'm on a budget but I don't want a super slow motor. The V4 2.2 in it was pretty fast. I don't know what to do what are some opinons to help me out here?

Well, you don't want 3sfe, it's slower than your current engine. You car is 5sfe, I4 not V4. You can consider to swap 3sgte at this point for more power, or use this time to rebuild the engine and start boosting. That's my opinion.

If you are going to be on a tight budget you need to find someone to help you out and either rebuild the engine you have, if it is rebuildable, or jsut replace it with te same engine that is in it now. Just look for a 5SFE on ebay or online somewhere. With As many Camry's as thereare out there it shouldnt be to hard to find an engine with respectable mileage and go from there.

well that is not the same engine that is in the car now. It will not be a direct replacement. As many Gen 3 Camry's as there are out there surely you can find a 5sfe. Check around at some junk yards in your area and see if you can find one.

well, bud...that last link is the closes thing you want...2.2 liter engine..the standard 4 cylinder engin for the camrys from year 93 to 96 *yes....for the others...gen 4 also.

not so sure what they mean by 3sfe and 5sfe...they are defintely TWO DIFFERENT engines

the 3sfe is for camries earlier than 93 and are 2.0 liters

the 5sfe is for the years 93 up and are 2.2 liters.

you should get some clarification on it when they say they "call it" a 3sfe when it's actually a 5sfe.

the v6s are pretty expensive but you have more opportunities to mod them

since you said you might want to mod it later down the road...maybe you just might want to check out the junk yard....at least to get a look at what you might want on line if not for anything else

Any other Opinions? The Twin Cam 200 V6 wouldn't fit? I would like to get a 3sgte if it would fit.

a 3sgte will fit with custom rear engine mount (i think its rear) but remmeber your old car has had to be a manual, also youll need an ecu for it too, and yeah, its not worth the headfuck if you have no idea what youre on about, just pay someone else the money to do it... money can get you anything you want.

i want to report all those auctions to ebay as wrong info so bad

2s-e dont even try
3s-e it will fit (some custom mounts) even slower than shit
3s-fe it will fit (some custom mounts) you go slower than shit
3s-ge it will fit (some custom mounts) you wount go as fast but WAY more ready mods for it
3s-gte it will fit (some custom mounts) you go way faster
5s-fe it's a direct drop in
5s-ge it's a direct drop in (custom head mating)
5s-gte it's a direct drop in (custom head mating)
2az-fe it will fit (all custom mounts) and new tranny needed (custom mounts too) lil quicker
2vz-fe it will fit (all custom mounts) and v6 tranny needed (custom mounts too)
3vz-fe it will fit (all custom mounts) and v6 tranny needed (custom mounts too)
1mz-fe it will fit (all custom mounts) and v6 tranny needed (custom mounts too)
3mz-fe it will fit (all custom mounts) and v6 tranny needed (custom mounts too)

now engines that never were in a camry
4a-fe it will fit (all custom mounts) and tranny needed (custom mounts too) custom axles as well slower than shit
20v 7a-gte it will fit (all custom mounts) and tranny needed (custom mounts too) custom axles who cares how fast it is it be one pimp ass engine.

e series dont even try.

and with all swaps but the 5s-fe new ecu and harnest.

and i know there was more a series engines
and unless you have nothing better to do with your life and money dont even try the a series.

and the only camry i know that has a 3s-gte in it is wrath.
and i dont think there any 5s-ge camrys they were only made by celica guys and mr2's
we have an ass load of 5s-fte which is just the 5s with the turbo header from the 3s-gte.

in the end for the money you have get a junk yard 5s swap it in your self and be happy you got a free car or get one of the camry from that impound lot and sell your to the junker.

Yes, but, your car is still a Gen 3..he just said 93 because most Gen 3's are made then and after.
