has anyone tried this method to shorten shifter throws?

I know it's a VW site but it looks like the basics would work on any manual transmission. I think Patrick shortened his shifts, is this how he did it? If anyone else has done it do you have a right up on it? If not I think I'm gonna try making at least the short throw shifter arm, cause it doesn't look like anything more that $20 bucks of parts. But where can I get some new bushings for my 3sfe tranny?

This applies to the 2nd Generation Camry but the concept should still be the same for yours.

yeah, AFAIK camrys (at least gen3 and gen4) use shifter cables instead of shift linkage.

OK so does anyone know if the Gen2 5sp uses shift linkage. How hard would it to check?
Thanks for the link Lemon Tree I was planning on doing that when I buy a new boot and knob but I also want to shorten the actual throw distance, not just the length of the shift lever.

Ok this WILL NOT work for Camry Transmissions

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4291332973&idx=1

There I have an exploded view of the Shifting assembly for Gen2 tranmissions. It uses cables. I think though that by shortening the length of the selecting ballcrank shortened shifts could be acheived. Any ideas?

Use a torch and move the pivot ball of the shift lever higher. This has been done.

Just make sure the bottom of the shifter still clears the bottom, but you could use washers to remedy this.

latez.
