Since my last post was deleted here for........(ahem)........cross-posting..... ......I have another angle I'm confronted with..........
So I find that in my old debacle between Corolla/Elantra, the Camry comes VVVEEERRRYYY closely into the picture.
I picked up the paper today (ad-car day) and noticed there are quite a few dealers showing Camry's for pretty low prices. (One even shows $14,888 but we know that's a fictitious car......right?) LOL!!
Anyway, the cheapest ad-car I saw in a Corolla was $12,555. Assuming even 9.5% TTL, I don't think I could drive away with one for under $13,8xx. And I'm gonna go ahead and assume that THAT particular Corolla would be an SE......(bleh).
If I could pick up a CAMRY LE for $15,888, (today's ad-cars aren't just "1 at this price" anymore) then I'm comin' up with $17,4xx.
The "over the $17K" mark makes me cringe a bit (considering my original intent) but that's still cheap. My '98 LE cost me $20K!
If I thought I could get a Corolla "LE" for $13,8xx, then I'd probably go that route, but for a Rolla CE vs. Cam LE..............I dunno!!??!!??!!??
i got my SE used for 19K including tax back in 03, where mine is an 02 .and all that good stuff. 28K miles. dang huh.
you could probably get an LE or SE under 17

......actually.......you just might get lucky... i live in San bernardino, but my brother lives in LA, he's helped buy a couple of Camrys from the So called adds for cheap camrys. He's actually been able to find them.
get the paper for that morning...or wait for the next set of papers to run...err the ads, be the very first one there on the lot and you should find that car. I forget the dealer...it's closer to Alahambra...a smaller one...it, might have been Power Toyota in Buena Park...oh i know...Wondries Toyota in Alahambra. Check their ads when we shopped for our camry this year they had an ad for 15888 LE..and 18888 for the V6. I don't know why my brother ended up buying from LOngo...i think it was because the OTD price would come out the same---18k for the LE
couldn't hurt to check them out since you are in LA...just be early so they won't have an excuse

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.

I think I would definitely pick up a Camry if I could get it for $17,4xx. And here's the best part. My whole dilema in the first place seems to be less than I thought. The wife is only filling up 3 times per month so actual mileage difference between the 15mpg and the 25mpg (name car here) is about $60 per month.
That said, I don't feel as aggrivated and thus not soooo pressured to buy a new car. sure the new car would pay for the etra $40 per month in insurance costs, but then that only leaves $20/month for actual savings.
Of course............after visiting a half-dozen dealers, there is something VERY infectous about that new-car-smell!!!!!!!!!!!
Doh!!!!!!!!!!
Then again..........I saw a Kia Rio on ad today in the LA times for $4,990!!!!! Probably didn't have a damn thing on it, but still, for $5K.......you throw air in it & be done! That's what you call goin' CHEEEEEEEAP!!!!!

LoL and it won't have ABS or Airbags or anything.... I wouldnt touch it
