i get around 350 gallons or more depending on my driving with a tank of gas on my 1MZ-FE. of course having a v6 makes it worse than 4 cyl. how much does the 4 cyl get?

I have a 96 V6LE with the 1MZ-FE engine and I feel that im only getting about 120 miles on a full tank. and all the driving is city driving, and most of the time my average RPM's are at 2100 I rarely go to 3000 RPM's and im still getting crappy mialage. SKEWE migth be right on the timing belt but I don't know.

The next time i fill up i will fill it up fully and count the miles i get using the tripometer.

Holy crap dude, if you're only getting 120 miles on a tank that is horrible! My 89 3sfe equipped camry can get at least 350 to the tank in pure city driving. There definitely shouldn't be that much of a discrepancy between a V6 and an Inline 4. I'd definitely adjust the timing as was previously suggested cause your car is getting as bad of mileage as an H2.

x_x' Fat car!?!? AHHHHH you're making me feel bad. you're calling my babi, fat lol.

anyway, yeah i do a mix of city/highway driving. mostly city though. damn 120 miles to a tank? i know the gen 5 tanks are 18.5 so i got a lot of gas to burn in a tank. but damn 120 miles doesn't go anywhere.

^^^^ What's up with this guy?

Anyways! I might be exagerating a bit on the 120, so far thats how much i feel im getting right now with 75 of the tank full.

Oh and is it normal for this engine to make a slight gargle sound at about 2500 RPM's?, is it because it has bad timing? I don't feel that the engine looses any power when engine is at full temp and it doesnt make any ping/detonation noise.

Im going to fill up the tank completely and measure how many miles i get total in all city driving. I'll tell you guy how much i get.

And one more thing, a few hours i took the MAF sernsor apate too see if it was dirty, but it wasn't. Just making sure it wasn't dirty or anything.

Feul filter, just as my reminder to all mentioned, in can make a big difference, in not only power but fuel economy if its been a long enough time, O2 sensors play a huge part in A/F for the computer, when i changed mine i gained a bunch on my 3vz-fe, from 200 mpt to around 250mpt. Check intake sensor (air flow) as well.

I am happy with my gas mileage , over 400+ miles to the tank on my well mod'd 3vz-fe running lean right now, YES lean, from the Engine light from my knock sensors, and over half of that is city driving . the computer has YET to learn my new engine's new A/F ratios cuz of that stupid check engine light

Did you replace bothe sensors? Front and back bank sensors? How much did they cost? I just checked the MAF sensor a few hours ago and it liiks OK, it is not dirty or clought.

Also i found this on another thread. Will this port be use full? for seafoam?

ranger buy and can and read it, the can tells you more or less what you need to do just dont pour it in too fast. also a can or 2 of carb clenaer and an old tooth brush spray it out and scrub with the brush.

i started around 130k at 150k now not a problem i actualy have added so much to my oil you think i'm crazy (lil over 1/3 can) and not a leak to be found. i have also pured in 1/2 can once in the intake and not a problem.

1mz actualy have a nifty port on the top of them for this.

you can see the uncoverd port on the tb, this normaly has a black boot over it. i just take that off attach anothe pice of hose and pour it in through that.

Uh, no offense dude, but you don't sound very sure about what you're saying. Have you actually tried filling it up all the way, resetting your trip and measuring the exact amount of miles you can drive before it gets to empty? I get 300-450 miles per tank with my 1mz, depending on how many highway miles I drive. Normally I can get about 320 miles per tank in all city driving. That post was addressed to me,I've yet to try pouring seafoam into that port, but it seems like a good idea. In fact I'm going to try it some time this week after I change my oil, gonna put some in the crankcase and some in that port. So your CEL is not on at all? I should think that if you have THAT bad of a timing or a/f ratio problem, it would cause the light to come on.
