so my mechanic called and said that my fuel filter line? is all mangled and if he tries to change it, there is a risk of messing it up which would make big problems. i was wondering if toyota would take on the responsibility of changing that? and if so, do you know how much it could be?

your machinic prolly screwed it up and then trying then telling you it was screwed up. the biggest thing with gen 3's are that the bottom nut on the fuel filter is on crazy tight. you need to use a set of box end wrenches. your machinc prolly striped the nut, and if you take it to toyota there going to tell you that YOU screwed it up and it will become an expensive job.

your now cheapest solution is to tear the line out and get a new one from the junk yard or cut the line and slice a new one in.

no this is a trusted mechanic. its a used car so probably the person before or possibly i did that :-/. gonna take it to the dealership soon though.

The nut could just be rusted to the line. Happens all the time in the northern states where they dump all that salt on the roads in the winter. Sometimes they break loose, sometimes they dont. Just make sure to put some anti-sieze compound on the fitting of the new line. Happens all the time with brake lines too.
