I almost stripped mine trying to get it off and this worked perfectly. Get yourself a set of flare nut wrenches, these are from Sears. If you put the flare nut wrench on the fuel line fitting and a regular open end wrench on the bottom of the fuel filter itself, you can pry the wrenches apart with a screwdriver. This info was relayed to me from Jim@ForeignAffairs. I can't remember what direction to turn, but I think it was toward the firewall. Jim told me what direction to turn but I can't check it since camryman.org went down.

Mine was tough too. *Good* wrenches, patience, and an easy but firm hand will do it.

Well i din't have time to finish it because when i took off the top line to see if it would fit the new filter, it din't and i had to go back and exchange it for the right on and then from there i had places to so so i din't get the time today, I will do it tommorow morning, And one more question, What exact size wrench does the bottom line use? Is it a 14mm? Thats the sixe im using and it is a bit loose there but not that loose.

Thanx.

I can't remember but that sounds right. It might be loose because you may have rounded off the corners a bit.

just did mine a couple of days ago...you gotta remember it's upside down--the nut and thread... so, yes turn towards the firewall to gett it off

lol...

righty tighty lefty loosy turn her over and screw her loosly, do her right and you'll make her loose it.

i kknow i know, i got it!!

Edit:
Righty tighty, lefty loosy. when turned over to screw her loosly, do her right and your nut will lose it.
End edit.

sorry, i don't know what the rhyme would be ---backwards
