I've heard bad things about it. It looks good and everything but if you run a lot of bass, you get a huge amount of rattle. It does look good though
Edit: Most of the pics I've seen of other people that have done this, and they all look like yours when they're open. The pics I've seen of them sitting flat like you want it are on ebay.
From what i can see of the joint in the photo, get a rubber stopper (like the things used on doors), and swer it into it. It looks like that may solve the problem with the tilting, and it would make it softer anf less prown to breakage.

that is a diy on how to do it.. its not hard... about a 3/10 (only thing easier could be clear corners....
looks good. o would suggest adding in a seconday bracket there to hold it in place
i wont do mine due to the chane of the trunk flying off in an accident.
