3rd Generation Fuel Filter change

Any advise for a fuel filter change for a gen 3? I did the search already.

I am going to do a write up once this is done.

1) let car sit overnite and remove air box
2) Use Flare wrench set
3) Have rag under the car

Any other suggestions or advise?
And a question, is there a shelf life for an unused fuel filter? I have one sitting there for 2 years.

Blow throught the filter, and if it's easy to blow through it works.

Disconnect the battery. I'd hate to see a spark.

remmeber its the vapour coming off the puddle that burns, not the puddle itself.

Again....Skewe, in case u dont read the other one:

for mine, if u were facing the engine bay the feul filter was on the right side (driver) just below/around teh air box. I need a 19 and 14mm to unscrew the bottom hard line, the 19 for support, and the 14 to unscrew. if perhaps it gets stripped, retighten then try again. make sure u have a bucket or somethign to catch the feul thats about to stream out the bottom, it will stop eventually. Next unscrew the top with i think its a 17mm w/an extension. Next, loosen the one bolt tensioner around the feul filter, if that gets all teh way loos but the filter has yet to budge unscrew one of the small screws attatching it to the bay and bend it a bit. once the filter is off, get the new one ready. put teflon tape around the hard feul line screw thing. Attatch the hard line FIRST, ther are 3 slight ridges on the feul filter that should align on the thing thats holding it, make sure thats somewhat lined up in the process. Also DONT tighten the hard line all the way yet. Next insert the filter into the holder and let it sit in there. Adjust to a 'comfotable' level for the hard line and tighten the bolts for the holder. Then attatch the feul line to the top of the filter tightly! Dont forget to replace the small metal o-ring things. Next finish tightening the hard line. Turn on the car, itll take a second or two, then check ur filter immediatly for leaking gas....if ther is, tighten up the bolts more where needed.........thats it.

^^ thats basically ur write up right ther, jsut separate it out, and add a bunch of pics,...

2 things that i think you missed, dont let the housing sit there 2 long without the filter, might take in some air, and dont put the fuel filter on dry, put fuel in the holder.

Doesnt really matter for either, the air will simply flow through and out the system within a matter of a few seconds, the feul will deliver and the car will start within about 4-8 seconds. Again, air is not a big concern here, the starter will just do a lil more work than normal

Worst idea ever, unless ur joking. then... .....but if not

u can blow through the filters dirty or not relatively easy the problem is the dirt, grime and various other contaminants getting into ur new feul. Like i had mentioned in a previous post about this....mine flowed half decent but the feul going in looked normal, when it came out...black as night.......not at all good for performance or even preventing nasty, unwanted build up in ur block and oil. Dont forget, not only is that nasty stuff being left behind in ur car, the stuff that escapes into exhaust can still be recycled through the sytem even dirtier complements of the egr
