That is the purge line coming from the charcoal canister. If you trace it up you will see it coming from the bottom pipe on the underside of the canister.

It attaches via a clip I think to the wheel suspension *about where it's sitting just to the right of the cv axle. If you clear away some of the grease from the axle, you should see the spot it attaches too. Having issues with that one right now because I'm purging gas through there for some reason.

i had the cv joint done by cv pros during spring break, so everything should still be under warranty. if its not, ill just do the boot myself.

You ever tried to take one of those axles apart? Not a very fun job!

so i hear...i did the struts the other day and noticed that the boot was tearing...so i have my fingers crossed that its still with warranty. ive been doing searches for how to change the cover. but nothing significant has come up yet. do you know how to go about changing the inside boot cover?

You only have two options. You could A: go buy a split boot, which allows you to cut off the torn one, wrap on the new one, and use these mini-screws to hold it together, as well as some really crappy clamps, or B: you can buy a new boot, tear down the axle, clean it up, re-grease it, then put the new boot back on, and put it all back together. Personally, even I tried that...and it was to much of a pain, so I went out and just bought a new axle, and replaced the entire unit.

hmm..split boot seems like an easy idea...i just need something cheap...i know the cv joint is in good condition, ill just have to repack it with grease before putting the half boot on.

Advanced, or Auto Zone....but don't...it's so not worth it! Tried that also and it was a complete failure! teh screws don't hold to well under that pressure, as well as the clamps they give you suck big time!
