3rd Generation Tinkered with dash lights a bit more... *56k maybe

So I decided to change the rest of my dash to red and my turn signals to blue. The blue didn't turn up well in the pics at all, but the red looks ok.

Anybody know what size bulb lights up the button for the rear defroster? I sorta busted it. Well there's two bulbs for the defroster. One lights up the indicator when the button is pushed. The other one (and the one I'm talking about) serves as the backlight for the button. It don't light up no more.

Here's what I'm referring to if you don't know what I'm talking about...

I figure if I go to the dealership (which I may have to end up doing), they're going to charge me up the ass for that small bulb.

whoa....reminds me of the matrix dashboard now, haha. looks sweet
question: for the three nobs to the left of the a/c button, where are the bulbs located in the dash and what size are they?

How the heck do you get to the bulbs? My bulbthat lights up the gas is out. I'm stumped. I can usually figure this stuff out.

There's two bulbs powering the HVAC area (not the defroster and A/C, those have their own bulbs). I dunno what size they are. They're in the back of the whole unit. They're easy to locate once you pull the unit out (after you've taken apart the rest of the dash of course). You may have to take out your head unit slightly to gain access though. You'll also have to pull your temperature knob off and unscrew a screw holding the unit in place. There'll be a couple clips top and bottom that you'll have to bend to pull it out to gain access to the rear.

Pull the speedometer out. You can access all the bulbs from the rear. I forgot which bulb powers the light near the gas gauge.

well, just to clarify, the 4 bulbs in the instrument panel illuminating the tach, speedo, temp and fuel are 194 bulbs. i would imagine they'd be the same powering the HVAC are too.

No I'm pretty sure that the HVAC are not 194's. They're smaller. I think of all the bulbs that I tinkered with, the 194 sized ones in the speedo were the largest. Everything else was small. The one in the rear defroster button that I busted was small as hell. That's why I was wondering if anybody knew its size.

yes I have XLE V6 but I did not know they had different interior. I thought the only difference in XLE was the wheels and all of the luxury options.

the HVAC light bulbs are number 74 they are a little biatch to remove but very satisfying to replace cause it looks hella pimp once its done. The one in the shifter is a 194 FYI. i just need to find new bulbs for the center dealie that tells you what gear you are in.

Not necessarily. My buddy has a 4cyl LE just like mine and he's got the button treatment too. Difference b/w his car and mine is that his is a 92 vs. my 94.

Too many different sized bulbs for this little "project" for me to straight up replace. Hellooooo high temp marker from Michaels. Great for coloring the bulbs directly.
