i meant, does it help my vehicle's exhaust system better? is it more free flow, i think it is, thats why i welded a test pipe. i like the smell of gas, its kinda kool

probably not.. if you can SMELL GAS.. you got leaks wher eyou put the test pipe in.... which would remove any gain you got from getting a freeer flowing cat lol.
i went from unclogged/good condition standard v6 cat to magnaflow 94000(?) series hi flow 2.5" and theres no gains at all
the stock cat is almost as big as the magnaflow, so of course it flowed well

you dont smell it when its coming out the BACK of yoru car and your driving.. if you do, then its coming from a leak elsewhere.

When you add a high-flo cat, your replacing your stock catalytic converter, which in most cars that im familiar with would be anywhere between 1.96 and 2.2 inches. Adding a high-flo cat is near pointless unless you have a whole cat-back system, unless the cat is the same diameter as the rest of your exhaust. The smell is normal. Did you gut any part of your car? Your stock catalytic converter is much better for the environment than an aftermarket one, hence why youll have to change out your whole exhaust system when you have to pass emissions (since you welded it). The feul you are smelling is what isnt burned up/turned into exhaust from your stock cat. Hope this helps out.
no it doesnt, he doesn thav e a cat anymore, he said testpipe which is pretty much just no cat or a resonator.
id rather swap to a hi flow cat then a cat back system, better gains, and is quieter. same goes with headers. they make more different even with stock cat back.

The smell is prob. bits of the weld burning off. When I had my exhaust installed, my car looked like is was spewing blue smoke. I took it back to the shop and the guy said it was the welding material that was burning off......it went away after a day. That might be where the smell is coming from. Don't know.
