Transmission question

How much power will a stock S51 tranny hold reliably? (I am refering to the 4 cylinder 5 speed tranny). I plan to do a basic turbo kit similair to Nates so around 180 to 210 hp to the wheels is my goal. That is all in time though. This fall is transmission swap time so I need to make a decision between E153 and the S51. The v6 tranny would require new driveaxles, hubs, brakes, and Im unsure about how to set up the clutch and flywheel but it offers more strength and taller gears. I would rather have the gearing off the S51 cause I want to be quicker off the line but I also dont want it to blow up a month after I put it in. So how much power is an S51 good for?

doubtful.

more likey than not, he has the auto.
which means, no, it's not going to hold out beyond 220whp or so.

you'll need a rebuild real fast, or swap to an e153

Well looks like its gonna be an S51 then. I was hoping to use it because its much easier to find low milage S51's in my area than low milage E153's plus there is less guesswork with the clutch setup. What do you guys think of ACT clutches? I am looking at the heavy duty pressure plate and street disc with a stock flywheel. (No six puck nonsense its a daily driver!) Is it good stuff or what?
