Stop the Ping!

My Gen2 3S-FE 5spd has had engine ping for a few months, and I can't fix it. Here's the story:

I took it on a 9k road trip up the Dempster Highway in May, and now the engine is pinging and runs slightly rough/weak on acceleration. I've recently started commuting 2 hours a day, and figured I should do something about it. The gas mileage isn't too great anymore either.

- I put in new spark plugs today
- I adjusted the timing correctly
- New air filter
- Oil changed
- Ignition parts are all new from just before the trip I mentioned
- Fixed exhaust

In the past, doing this has eliminated the problem. Before and during my trip (up until the exhaust got busted up by rocks), it ran smooth. The plugs I replaced had a white dusty-looking coating. What else could be causing the ping?

It could be getting a little dirty inside. Try running some injector cleaner thru it for a couple of tanks to see if that helps.

if the exhaust had problems, there could be a chance of a O2 censor being damaged. Cheak that out
