215x60x15 BFG Traction and Siping

Went to Discount Tire to get a set of BFG Traction TA 205x60x15 tires for my 96 Camry. They said they only had three, so I said install them so I wouldn't have to hydroplane home.
Once they removed my tires they said they only had the T rated tires in stock. I said no to the T tires.
They then found 3 of the same tires but in 215x60x15.BUt they were siped. I had them install them anyway.
I drove them around town with no problem untill I opened the trunk. I had a rim but no tire How did they execpt to go any where with no spare??? When back to the shop but they were closed but someone was still there so they installed a tire to the rim.

Is there going to be any problems with the bigger tires?
What about the siping? Is this a good or bad thing for the TA's?

Larger tires should not be a problem. However, your speedometer will be off slightly. If you have 3 tires the same size and one different size, it is better to leave the different size tire on the back. Putting different size tires on the front can cause more wear on the differential.

The smaller tire is on the rear.
I didn't see any change in the speedo.
The speedo was reading 3mph faster than it was going before and after I got the bigger tires. I was expecting to see the speedo to be more correct at 80 mph but its still reading 77 mph when the speedo reads 80.
My speedo reads 3 mph at all speeds. When you install bigger tires you speedo will read slow at set % depending on the tire size. The faster you drive, the more the speeod will be off.
On one of my Land Cruisers I had tires that were 18% bigger that stock. At 50mph on the speedo, I was realy going 58 mph. If I was to drive 80 mph on the speedo, I would be going 94 mph I don't think that Cruiser would go 94 mph

I had 215 50 on my 17's and that was almost identical to the stock total diameter. sooo, 215 60 15 should be smaller than stock.

What gen Camry is it anyways?

If the odd size tire is on the rear it wont matter. The speedo only reads from the front.

^^ The OP said the car is '96, so Gen 3.5. I think they have 195/70-14 stock, so 205/60-15 is +1 size. Less than 1% difference in size between those two tire size.

The difference between 205/60-15 and 215/60-15 is about 2%. Probably not enough for you to notice.

Get big enough tires to make a longer gear ratio, go down hill with a tail wind it might go go 94 MPH, but it would take a long time getting there.

My Camry can do 120, it just takes a long time getting there.

Stock tire size is 205x65x15.
I found a tire calculator. I tried to download BFG spec on the tire but I got an error.
205x65x15 = 25.49 diameter 8.07 width and 791 revs per mi.
215x60x15 = 25.16 diameter 8.46 width and 802 revs per mi.
The tire is smaller. This means that the speedo got worse but not by much, right?

Discount tire said that it should be taller not smaller. Unless BFG is like other tire makers and makes the tires not equal to the true tire calculator, The tire guy is wrong. But even if BFG does make tires sizes to equal the tire calculator, they should be consistance, right?
