Clutch replacement question...

My girlfriend drives a 1998 Camry, I-4 manual tranny. It has 90k miles on it and her clutch is beginning to slip when going up steep hills. I was hoping to get advice from the experts on what steps to take.

First, how long should a clutch last in this Camry? Besides driving style anyway.

Is there any clutch adjustment on this year Camry, or anything I can do before commiting to changing out the clutch?

If I HAVE to change it out, can someone who's done it give me a tutorial on it? I AM mechanically inclined, and have access to tools. Her dad has a sevice manual that I will go through first, but I'm sure you guys know the REAL deal on making the swap easier. Thanks!!

You are going to find that there isn't much adjustments as far as the clutch goes. All adjustments will be done at the petal. just make sure when you use the clutch alignment tool that you insert it ALL the way in or you will have problems when you try to put the transmission back in.

If it is starting to slip get it replaced ASAP before it does too much damage to the flywheel. I have just had mine replaced because it blew up on me in a very large cloud of blue smoke as i was driving up a hill and it had not given any warning that it was worn out.
