I know you guys are probably tired of my noobish questions, but I need help again. I've been trying to get my intake plenum off, but no luck...whoever designed this was a genius engineer, because he certainly acomplished his goal of pissing people off enough to have them take it to a dealership, instead of doing their own work. Here's what I can't get past:
A better picture of the bolt. How the heck am I supposed to get that thing off? You can't fit an open-end wrench on it, and you definitely can't fit a socket wrench back there. What tools do I need to buy to be able to undo this bolt? I even thought about buying a grinding bit for my dremel tool and just grinding a hole into the side of that bracket...that way I could just slip a wrench right in. But I don't want to modify anything if possible. I know that dealerships wouldn't want to deal with something like that, so there's got to be a better way. A friend of mine mentioned how some hondas have the ability to tilt the motor forward for easier access to the back side...does my car have anything like that? Help please!
take the dogbone off and shove it in gear to rock the motor around :P

You can't fit a socket back there because of that hose that runs behind it...I unbolted it but I can't seem to get to move anywhere. What dogbone are you talking about? I know I sound like an idiot here, but I have no experience with new motors. Won't rocking the motor do something to the mounts? Or are they designed to move like that? And another thing, how do I know how much to rock it? I mean it doesn't look like it has much room to flex...the exhaust and other stuff would hit on the frame...then once it is rocked, how do I push it back? This just seems like way too much work to me just to change the spark plugs.
What really? $20? Man that's pretty cheap...they must have some better way to do it. I still want to know, though, as I'd like to take off the plenum to clean it out, and clean the throttle body while I'm at it.
I just can't get it there because of the way the hook comes up at the top...I think what I'm going to do, like I said earlier, is cut away a section of that bracket away with a dremel tool. I don't think it'd do anything too terrible to the bracket.
Yes, it does, look at that second pic I posted, that is the back of the bracket with the hook on top. I just gave up on changing the back ones. I don't want to cut up the car, and I can't exactly afford to buy a set of ratcheting wrenches or a ratchet that can bend more than once...do they make any kind of bendable extensions? Oh well. I think I'm gonna sell my car soon anyway. Let somebody else fool with this crap.
Hate to bring up a dead thread, but I got it off...now I just need a new gasket, which I can't find at any of the local parts places. How much do you think a Toyota dealer would charge for it? Could I just reuse the old one? And I'm still debating whether or not to sell my car...I think if I do I'm gonna buy a honda. (Doh.) Those are at least a little more user friendly.
