Check Engine/TRAC Off

So yea. I just got my springs/struts put it 2 days ago (I'll make another thread about that after I figure out whats wrong), and less than a day after getting the car back my check engine light came on.

I didn't think anything of it cause it has happened before, gas cap just not tight enough so I tightened it and went on my way.

Then late last night, pulling out of a road from a dead stop, the car bucked wildly twice then almost stalled and the TRAC Off light came on, flashed, then stayed steady on and hasn't gone off since. I had to drive the car home still since I was a good 15 miles from home (with no cell phone I might add) and it ran perfect the whole way home.

I did a search and it said that it might be an o2 sensor. Anyway I can test this theory myself? anything else it could be? Does autozone still do free computer reads?

Any info/comments/help would be appreciated ASAP!

there is very little wa can tell you from your description (except for gen4 ppl with traction control that can tell us the diagnostic when it flashes??)

go to autozone to get codes pulled

do that, and also disconnect the battery to reset any minor glitches that may have caused the problem....if it comes back, then you know for sure that it needs fixing

Ok. It has a P0401 code: EGR Valve. So my car is running lean.

Anybody got some links for me? Ive tried googling it and lookin on here but i can't find many places that sell an EGR valve for a Gen4 or a place that tell you where the heck it is on the car and how to replace it?

Anybody done an EGR valve on a Gen4???

download the repair manual and serach for my bypass post to turn it off for now. you can leave it bypassed till you need emissions done. also you can clean it out.

and the egr is right on your intake. it bolts on the side looks like it's rusted because it's iron.has a line running to the back bank of the exhuast.

There is no manual for download. The only place, autozone, only has instructions for up to a 96 camry, also, your post is nowhere to be found, i looked throujgh every thread you posted.

and what should i clean the EGR when/if i get it off? (im gonna attempt it anyway, Toysrme gave me some pointers)??

btw, the exact description of the code that was pulled is P0401 EGR flow insufficient
