Part # needed

For a 2000 Camry V6 E153 transmission 3rd gear synchro - the one closest to the motor on the input shaft. Thanks in advance.

Edit: While I'm in there: also the 2nd gear synchro, it's the 2nd one from the motor on the output shaft.

mobes, I am down at WyoTech now and have access to AllData. Tell me what car your transmission came out of and I'll hunt down part#s for it. As is, it'll only list non-e153 transmissions for the 00 cam. Let me know - email is better than pm. Romeo_lupus!@hotmail.com

I have one on order at Ressler Toyota. It seems the switch-over to double cone synchro's was for the '00 model year, and mine has the single cone ones, so it must be from a '97-'99. It's $137.50 for the '97-'99 V6 version, and $26.50 for the 4-cylinder version (the parts guy pulled that one up fist by mistake). HOLY SHIT that's a big difference.

It's from a gen 4 Camry, mots likely '97-'99 since it has single cone synchros and it seems the switch to double cone ones was in '00, since there is a part no. break in the synchros.

So it turns out that 3rd has a double synchro on it, and I just couldn't tell when the hub was still on the shaft. Now that I have it apart, it's obvious. I figured since 4th didn't have a double synchro, 3rd wouldn't either. Guess I was wrong

I went to 7 places today trying to get someone to pull the hub off the shaft. Nobody would touch it cus they were afraid of damaging the teeth, except for one Toyota only shop and he said he'd have to heat it with a torch and it'd be around $50 just to pull the hub. Fuck them. I pulled it with a 3-jaw puller myself.

Part should be in tomorrow.. will see if it's the right one.

Edit:

96CamrySport - I have the number on the tag on the tranny, and that's it. Would that help? The car is in Belgrade right now, so I can't get it right now, but if you want I can grab the # tomorrow.

nah, I've got a 4banger. I was just wondering, cuz I'd heard that there weren't any 1mz manual trannies. Cool to know. Was the one place willing to pull your hub rising sun, by any chance? Keith seems pretty knowledgeable about yotas.

Nope, it was the Toyota shop off of Griffin. The guys name was Miles. He was a flat out asshole.

Edit: by the way, only North American built 1MZ's came with M/T's.
