Help PLEASE!! Inconsistent book values…

Hello folks…

I am new to the forum and in the process or purchasing a used Camry. After looking for a long time, today I found one Camry that may be a good value. It is a 2000 Camry CE with 55K miles (low) and manual transmission (which I like). It has got power windows, power locks, etc.

The seller is asking for $7,500. Of course, I went into www.edmunds.com and they show a private party value of $8,300 – so it is a great deal. I also checked with www.kbb.com (blue book) and surprisingly, the private party value is only $6,890. I did a search on NADA.com and the trade-in is at $7,450 (no private party value available).

Any clues as to the reason for the difference between Edmuds/NADA and Kelley’s blue book? Is $7,500 a good deal for this vehicle?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

first of all, there is diff value for different companies.

banks, finance comp and insurance company ususally use NADA.

KBB.com will give u a good range such as trade in or private party.
there is NO RIGHT figure. Just ball park figure and no, it is not a science to apraise cars. it is up to you to determine it.

Factor in what parts u r going to change down the road in 3-6 months. minus that from ur asking price.

what is the condition of the car? are they a dealer or private seller.
cars from dealers are usually cleaner and waxed, etc to make the sale easier.
private party, usually cheaper and car can be dirtier than cars from dealers.

ask for $6800 and see.
check www.carfax.com also
