Question potential sludge problem??

i was checking the oil level today and that was fine. i take off the oil filler cap and i see the black crusty stuff there... is this the early symptoms of the oil sludging? or is it normal for oil to crust a bit up there? the car runs and sounds like new still. the engines revs smoothly and freely.

the car has about 63500km on it and oil changes are done every 8000km at the dealership using toyota's 5w30 synthetic oil.

should i try to scrape it off?

thanks.

A little bit of build up is normal. As long as its not thick and gooey (sludge).

If your really worried about, remove the valve cover and have alook. It should be clean, but the parts will have a golden color to them (from the oil).
