4th Generation Broken Spring Stick Under Hood

Alight so I opened up my hood one day and looked up in the drivers side corner be hind the brake booster and behind the drivers side strut mount and found this plastic stick broken. It's hard to explain what it is. It's a plastic stick with a spring under it that contracts when then hood is closed on it. On the end of the stick is a cord that has a wire running to the inside below the brake booster and through the fire wall. Here are some pics to help on what you think this is...

I hope this helps. What is it and does anyone else have it. I have a Bulldog Auto Starter/Alarm in my car but no remote to it. I'm thinking it might be to that. It was pre-installed before I got it. Any ideas on what it is and how much it might cost?
TIA!

that looks like a rubber boot for an alarm sensor as said above... what that does is set the alarm off.. its compressed whenthe hood is down but open and armed, it goes off that simple
