4th Generation Advice on tire size for 18" wheels

I have 225/40-18 B.S. potenza pole positions (18"X7.5" OZ wheels) and big potholes really wham my lowered car.

I wonder if 225/45 or 225/50 series tires would provide better ride and bottoming response than the 40 series.

Any experience or suggistions?

Thanks!

Well, remember that the smaller the sidewall, the stiffer the ride. So, a bigger sidewall would make the ride less stiff and thus more comfortable

keep in mind however that since you are keeping the same 225 width but are increasing the aspect ratio, you will be making the speedo and odometer function a bit incorrectly. although it won't be too bad, you still have to keep in mind that you are venturing from the stock rolling diameter.

235/40/18 is the closest to OE Diameter

Stock is 25.5" With the 225/40/18 you are at 25.1

With 235/40/18 you are at 25.4 outer diameter. THis is going to ride nicer and you won't be racking up as many miles on the odo as you would with the 225's/

On my old gen4 I shaved the rear fenders. Still strong as stock. Rolling your fenders makes them weaker, because the angle of the lip on the fender is no longer 90 degrees.
